Search Warrant Executed

A search warrant was executed today at 1282 KY 38 by Harlan PD officers. The search was a result of a recent investigation lead by Officer George Young regarding the illegal sale of alcohol in a dry territory. A large number of assorted beer, whisky, liquor and money were located at the residence. -
Law Enforcement Memorial

Busy Day!

We had a busy day at HPD. On 4-27-10, Officer George Young lead an investigation that lead to a search warrant being served. During the search warrant, 2 Baxter men were arrested. Emory Green Jr, 37 was charged with Illegal Sale of Alcohol in a Dry Territory, Resisting Arrest and other charges. -

Downtown Trick or Treat

We had a bunch of Trick or Treaters for the Downtown Merchant's Trick or Treat today. It was great seeing all of the kids in costumes. Remember the regular Trick or Treat is from 5 to 7 pm on Halloween. Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween. -

Congratulations to Linda Taylor. Linda has been with the department as a dispatcher for 30 years!!! September 24th was her last night. All of HPD wishes her well and good luck on her retirement. She was always a calm, professional voice on the radio and she always watched out for her officers. -

School Bus Collision

A minor traffic collision happened earlier this morning. The bus was a Harlan County Bus. It was rear-ended. There were some minor injuries but everyone involved were OK and there were no major injuries. The collision is still being investigated.

Festival Over!!

Well the festival is over. Hope everyone had a good time. As far as problems go, we only had a few minor problems. We had a handfull that wanted to drink an adult beverage and come out and enjoy the fun. Hope they enjoyed thier stay at the detention center instead. Other than that, it was a goo -
