Kentucky Law Enforcement Memorial
I attended the Kentucky Law Enforcement Memorial Service yesterday. Former Chief Pope was honored and placed on the wall. He was also placed on the national memorial last week. Chief Pope was one of 26 historical fallen officers placed on the wall. I recieved a flag in his honor that will placed in a case at HPD. Of course Chief Pope's story can be found under the department history tab to the left.

A search warrant was executed today at 1282 KY 38 by Harlan PD officers. The search was a result of a recent investigation lead by Officer George Young regarding the illegal sale of alcohol in a dry territory. A large number of assorted beer, whisky, liquor and money were located at the residence.

Bobby R. Muncy, 64 was arrested in charged with the Illegal Sale of Alcohol in a Dry Territory. An arrest warrant was also served on Muncy for Unlawful Transaction with a Minor and Wanton Endangerment 1st. The warrant is also a result of the investigation by Officer Young. Busy Day!
We had a busy day at HPD. On 4-27-10, Officer George Young lead an investigation that lead to a search warrant being served. During the search warrant, 2 Baxter men were arrested. Emory Green Jr, 37 was charged with Illegal Sale of Alcohol in a Dry Territory, Resisting Arrest and other charges. Emory Green Sr, 62 was also arrested on Disorderly Conduct and Resisting. The case is still under investigation and more charges are pending.

HPD then received a complaint that someone in a black Hummer were going around local businesses buying Sudafed. They were stopped on the bypass by Sgt Mike Boggs and Officer Craig Miller. The traffic stop lead to 3 people from Leslie County being arrested. Eric Caudill, 25 of Hyden was charged with DUI, Possession of Meth Precursor, and other traffic charges. Joshua Lyons, 29 of Hyden was charged with Possession of Meth Precursor. Brittany Collet, 21 of Essie was also charged with Possession of Meth Precursor and other drug related charges. All 3 admitted that they were buying the Sudafed to trade for other illegal drugs or to resale for the production of Meth. HPD was assisted by HCSO deputies at both scenes and Harlan Animal Control Officer Duncan Caldwell assisted on the traffic stop because one of the suspects had their pet with them.
