Well the festival is over. Hope everyone had a good time. As far as problems go, we only had a few minor problems. We had a handfull that wanted to drink an adult beverage and come out and enjoy the fun. Hope they enjoyed thier stay at the detention center instead. Other than that, it was a good time. I got to meet with some great people. All the guys from WYMT were here and fun to hang out with. Matt Stillwell and his band were here with us. I went home early and missed most of his show but heard it was great. The World's Stongest Redneck was here with us too. He has alot in common with law enforcement, he used to work in corrections. I got to see a lot of old friends that I had not seen for a while. And I even got a couple of rides in a giant shopping cart. Now it is back to business.

We are going into the final day of the festival. No Sunday activities this year because of Harlan County's graduation. We have been lucky and have had no major problems. A handful has went to jail but most is just having a good time. Friday was a fun day. George is a great cook and grilled for all the city workers. We all had a great feast. Being a NASCAR fan, I have always seen the Food City Big Cart at Bristol. I couldn't talk him into letting me drive down the bypass but he did give me a ride in it down Main Street. Yes that engine is real and has plenty of power. Got to hang out with Tracy, Jim, Jeff and all the guys from WYMT. They tried to get me to do guest weather, I tried to get them to take a Taser hit. Neither one of us gave in. Hope everyone saw the evening news, if not look it up on their website. Then I got to meet CMT's World's Strogest Redneck. Steve is a great guy and will be performing on Saturday. Everyone come out and see him. By the way, he is a high tech redneck, you can follow him on twitter as he updates from the festival. You may even find me there. Enjoy the final day and stay safe.

The annual Harlan County Poke Sallet Festival will start June 4th and run to June 6th. This means we will have some road and parking closings. All vehicles must be moved from these areas or they will be towed at the owner's expense.
On Monday June 1st at 5:00 pm, the parking lot next to Harlan City Hall will be closed. This is for the carnival to move in and set-up. It will remain closed for the duration of the festival.
On Wednesday June 3rd at Midnight, the parking lot next to the Harlan Center will be closed for the duration. Only vendors and those with passes will be allowed.
On Thursday June 4th at 2:00 pm, Main Steet from KY 38 to Clover Street will be closed to all traffic for the duration.
On Friday June 5th at Midnight, First Street from Central Street to Clover Street will be closed until after the car show on Saturday.
All vehicles must be moved prior to the closings or they will be towed at the owner's expense. Sorry for any inconvenience and have a safe and happy Poke Sallet Festival.
