Our Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Harlan Police Department to enhance the safety and security of the community by providing professional law enforcement services. While delivering professional, effective services, fairly and ethically, to all people at all times we will prevent crime, control crime, and enhance the overall quality of life for citizens and visitors to our community.

We will aggressively enforce the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the United States of America and the City of Harlan.

We value the dignity of every individual and understand ethnic and cultural diversity. We uphold the principles of the Constitution of the United States and the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

We will be loyal to the citizens of the City of Harlan, to the Harlan Police Department, and to one another.
